The interconnected series is a call to action. In order to protect beloved endangered creatures, we must protect their habitat! These animals are as much a part of their environment as the environment is a part of them. I used the habitat to create the animal. In this painting, I have a beautiful Sea Otter and her pup. The sea otter not only lives within the kelp forests, they help preserve the kelp forests. Without them, kelp would be over run by sea urchins. Due to global warming, ocean pollution and tidal changes, the kelp forests and their guardians are at risk!

I painted this piece using kelp to make the lovely pair's faces and bodies.
